Planned Parenthood abortion rates higher

Courtney Bell states in the July 3, 2008 North County Outlook article by Beckye Randall, editor and writer, “Planned Parenthood is not an abortion clinic” and “Less than 3 percent of our services involve pregnancy termination.”

A close review of Planned Parenthood’s abortions performed is quite revealing and suggests otherwise. Just how many abortions are equal to three percent? According to LifesiteNews.com, an on-line pro-life and pro-family magazine, published a March 28, 2008 article reporting Planned Parenthood abortions increased from 264,943 in 2005 to 289,650 in 2006 for a total increase of 24,707 abortion. Their bottom line: $112 million profit.

The national abortion rate is falling while Planned Parenthood’s rate is rising. The statistics are from Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s annual 2006-2007 report. I realize Courtney, field director for Snohomish County public affairs division, was likely speaking for Snohomish County. Yet she clearly said, Planned Parenthood is not an abortion clinic. Did I miss something here?

Planned Parenthood reacts to abortion as if it was no big deal (3%). AbortionFacts.com lists several serious problems the abortive woman may face. Consider bladder and bowel injury, tubal pregnancy, failed abortion, hemorrhage, hepatitis, infection, and the list goes on, including future miscarriages, perforation of the uterus, sterility, and death.

David Bereit, www.40daysforlife.com, says abortion destroys an innocent human life. He then asks, “What are we going to do about it?”
