Biographies take center stage at Arlington Christian School

Arlington Christian School hosted an Arts and Authors Night open house Thursday, January 31, to share student works that described “The Most Unforgettable Person I’ve Ever Known.”

Each student, from kindergartners to 12th graders, submitted biographies of a person special to them. On display throughout the campus, which lies just to the west of I-5, were stories of moms, dads, aunts, grandfathers, pastors, and cherished family friends.

Each story was embellished with illustrations including hand-drawn portraits facilitated by teacher Kim Hayward and photography borrowed from family photo albums. Some stories were printed, some typed; some were held together with a single staple, while others were bound with gold yarn or shiny black ribbon.

Additionally, Bethany Finch’s photography class displayed black and white and color photos which are planned for entry into a photography contest sponsored by the Snohomish County Council for the Arts. One amazing photo captured a single, large raindrop perched on the leaf of a plant.

Sheila Craft, coordinator of the event, was pleased with the turnout and the quality of the exhibits. “Long after this night was over, these biographies will stand as testament to the research, writing, and publishing skills of Arlington Christian students,” she said.
