Camp Fire capital campaign gets big boost
Camp Fire of Snohomish County recently announced the single largest donation ever received by the council. The non-profit organization that operates Camp Killoqua is in the middle of a capital campaign, entitled “Camp Fire Delivers,” with a fundraising goal of $2.7 million.
At a November luncheon, staff members presented the Board’s goals of a million dollars by December and passing the campaign halfway mark by January.
Local donor Phil Johnson made a leadership pledge of $250,000, saying simply, “I want to help you help kids.” He encourages others to make their donations by year-end.
The Boeing Employees Community Fund recently contributed $60,000 on behalf of their members to the Camp Fire campaign.
The funds provided by Boeing employees will be used to upgrade the camp’s Lodge Kitchen, with work scheduled to begin in December and completed in January.
The organization now needs another $200,000 by the end of December, and $260,000 by the end of January.
With funds in place, Camp Fire will begin construction on the centerpiece projects at the youth camp, the Multi Purpose Pavilion and covered Welcome Center.
