Rasmussen earns leadership certificate
Marysville City Councilmember Carmen Rasmussen recently earned a Certificate of Municipal Leadership from the Association of Washington Cities, completing more than 30 hours of training credits to earn the distinction.
The leadership program is designed to enhance the ability of elected municipal officials. The program provides mayors and councilmembers in Washington with knowledge and skills required for effective governance. To earn the certificate, officials attend a variety of AWC-sponsored workshops including sessions on budgeting, land use planning, personnel and leadership.
Rasmussen was originally appointed to the City Council in December 2005 and elected unopposed in January 2008. Rasmussen’s city committee assignments include Cable Television, Government Affairs and Parks and Recreation, where she has been actively involved with the Marysville Healthy Communities Project and developing an off-leash dog park, among other issues. In January 2008, she was appointed to the Marysville Fire District Board of Directors.
Rasmussen owns Alpine Outfitters, a web-based retail sales business, and is a former Snohomish County Corrections counselor. She has spent more than nine years volunteering in Marysville public schools, Marysville Little League, the family church, and supported her children's sports and recreational activities.
AWC is a private, nonprofit, non-partisan organization that represents Washington’s cities and towns before the legislature, state executive branch and regulatory agencies.
