The volunteers who work to feed the needy in our community were honored at an appreciation dinner April 23 at the Marysville United Methodist Church.

Dorothy Elliott and Joyce Lybyer prepared a "fiesta" dinner for the nearly 100 volunteers who support the food bank's operation, and several won impressive gift baskets put together by Dana Smith with donations from local businesses and individual supporters.

Emcee and food bank president Michael Mulligan ended the evening by presenting the 2008 Volunteer of the Year award to Mike Berry.

Berry has volunteered at the food bank since 2006 as a cart pusher, computer intake volunteer and meat distributor. He now helps manage the warehouse, and was a critical component in the organization's move early this year to its new location.
