Sunshine, good friends at annual picnic
More than 300 seniors from north Snohomish County enjoyed a delicious lunch, courtesy of the Marysville Parks Department and local sponsors, at the 11th annual Senior Picnic August 12 at Comeford Park. (more)

County faces budget woes, hiring freeze
The Snohomish County Council has unanimously approved a hiring freeze for county government, effective immediately, and is seeking public input on a new two-year budget with a series of community forums. (more)

Primary vote results offer few surprises
It seems unlikely that voter participation in the state’s first “top two” primary election will meet Secretary of State Sam Reed’s prediction of 46 percent turnout. Statewide, only about 41.5 percent of registered voters cast a ballot. Snohomish County results were slightly lower, at about 40 percent. (more)

Seeing red: Fewer services, more fees for Snohomish County public health
