Meeting set to gather input on community theater idea

A local grassroots organization, convinced Marysville is ready for its own venue for community performances, is holding a public meeting to gather ideas and muster support.

The Marysville Community Playhouse Association (MCPA) was spearheaded by Leslie Buell and is led by Buell, Lisa Kee, Kelly McClain and Beckye Randall. The four women have developed a brief presentation to demonstrate the need for a performance facility that will be shared at the open forum Wednesday, January 30 at 7 p.m. at the Marysville Public Library. The informal meeting will allow ample time for comments, questions and suggestions.

“A city the size of Marysville deserves a facility that can accommodate community theatre, dance productions, concerts, lecture series and more,” said Buell. “The artists are here, but they currently have to go outside the city to perform.”

Tamara Wade of Pilchuck Dance Academy agrees. “We use a facility in Lake Stevens now, but would love to have a local place for our performances.”

MCPA is seeking non-profit status as a 501(c)(3) organization. For more information contact Leslie Buell at (425) 268-5285 ([email protected]) or Beckye Randall at (360) 654-0754 ([email protected]).
