After charity shows in Los Angeles and New York, and an appearance at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry, Steve Martin will be coming to Seattle for a concert in support of his album, "The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo," which currently sits at the top of the Billboard Bluegrass album chart.
Presented by Seattle Theatre Group (STG), the comedian and musician will perform with the Steep Canyon Rangers on November 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Benaroya Hall in Seattle.
After a successful run with a limited release, Martin, a multi-talented Grammy(r) and Emmy(r) winning actor/comedian/musician and bestselling author, released the album on Rounder Records on May 19, 2009. Rounder also offered a deluxe pop-up version of the album on June 16. Martin will also perform on TV's "The View" on October 6 in support of the album.
After playing on the award-winning Foggy Mountain Breakdown with Earl Scruggs, Martin began writing a string of new banjo songs, some with lyrics and some as instrumentals. An album 45 years in the making, "The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo" features special vocal appearances by Mary Black, Vince Gill, Tim O'Brien, Dolly Parton and instrumental guest spots by Earl Scruggs, John McEuen, Stuart Duncan, Jerry Douglas, Pete Wernick and Tony Trischka. "The Crow" was recorded in Dublin, Hollywood, Nashville and New Jersey.
Tickets for the November 3 performance range from $55 to $75, plus applicable fees. Tickets go on sale Saturday, August 15, at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster locations, charge by phone 800-745-3000, online at www.ticketmaster.com, or the Benaroya Hall box office.
