Like most of us, Mike Olson was saddened by the images of devastation coming in from Haiti. Olson, a retired Navy man and the technical director for the
Historic Everett Theatre, jumped into action and has put together a benefit concert for the American Red Cross, set for Friday, January 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the Everett Theatre.
"All the performers are donating their time and talents," said Olson, "and the theater is providing the venue and the advertising. So 100 percent of ticket sales will go to the American Red Cross for Haiti relief efforts."
Five local acts will perform on the show. Daniel Kamas, a Seattle singer-songwriter who headlined at a recent Hometown Hootenanny at the theatre, agreed immediately to participate in the charitable event. Other acts include Brad Loomis, Scene Change, the Neil Diamond tribute band Cherry Cherry, and the Back Porch Blues Band.
Tickets for the benefit are $10 per person, and are available at the theatre's box office, online at
etix.com, or at the door the night of the event. The show is suitable for all ages. For information, call (425) 258-6766.
