Sean OsbornDr. Paul-Elliott Cobbs conducts the Everett Symphony Orchestra with guest soloist Sean Osborn in a concert highlighting American composers Friday, January 29, at Everett Civic Auditorium, 2415 Colby Avenue in Everett.

Osborn made his recital debut at 17, and in 1989, he became the youngest clarinetist in the history of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. A gifted composer as well, Osborn has been heard on National Public Radio and many other venues.

Featured compositions on the program include Aaron Copland's "Concerto for Clarinet" and "Rodeo," as well as Howard Hanson's "Symphony No. 2, Op. 30."

Cobbs will present a pre-concert talk at 7 p.m., with the concert beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $18 to $38, with $2 discounts for seniors. Student "rush" tickets are available at the door only for $10 with valid ID, and music students gain free admission with a note from their teacher.

Musicians in the community orchestra, which has been struggling financially while working to expand its music education programs, are donating their time and talents for the concert. All proceeds from ticket sales go to benefit the Everett Symphony's efforts to keep symphonic music alive in the community.

Tickets are available online at www.everettsymphony.org or by calling 1-800-595-4849. The Civic Auditorium box office opens at 7 p.m. for day of show sales.
