The cities of Arlington and Marysville still have lots of free entertainment planned for the rest of the summer, with family-friendly movies and concerts scheduled for warm summer evenings outdoors.

Arlington's outdoor events take place at Terrace Park, 809 E. Fifth Street. Bring your lawn chair and blankets to settle in for a fun evening in the city's natural amphitheater.

The final movie of the season, "Back to the Future," is planned for tonight, July 29, beginning at dusk. Come early and take part in karaoke fun. The Kiwanis Club of Arlington even provides free popcorn and water for moviegoers.

Music takes center stage at Terrace Park for the next several Thursday evenings, beginning with Boom Town, a country/rock alternative band on August 5. Next up is Cherry, Cherry, a Neil Diamond tribute band, on August 12, followed by the classic rock and country group Motown Cowboys August 19 and The Grand Delusion/Highway Run, featuring the music of Styx and Journey, on August 26. All concerts begin at 6:30 p.m.

"The Lord's Little Cooker" will be serving hot food and drink concessions again this year, and The Point Church provides the sound equipment and assistance with event coordination.

For additional information, call the City of Arlington Recreation Department at (360) 403-3448, or check the website at www.arlingtonwa.gov.

Marysville's free entertainment also takes advantage of a natural amphitheatre at Jennings Memorial Park. Concerts at the Lions Centennial Pavilion at the park are slated for Friday nights at 7 p.m. Scheduled performers include Recess Monkey, a family-friendly group, on July 30, pop world and soul funk music by Luc and the Lovingtons on August 6, and eclectic music by Becca Atterberry and Soul Intention on August 13.

Jennings Park's baseball field is the location for the city's Saturday night Popcorn in the Park movie series. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic basket to enjoy family films that include "Hook" on July 31, "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" August 7, and the hit film "Twilight" (rated PG-13) on August 14. Films begin at dusk, or approximately 9 p.m. The Marysville Kiwanis Club provides free popcorn for the movies.

Both entertainment series are sponsored by FiOS, with cinema equipment furnished by Snohomish County-Camano Association of Realtors.
