Just in time for a show featuring danceable honky-tonk music, the Historic Everett Theatre has created a dance floor in the vintage auditorium.

By removing several rows of seats near the stage, a 30-foot by 12-foot dance area has been opened up. The main floor of the theatre still accommodates more than 250 patrons, with seating for another 400 or so in the balcony.

"We've been producing the Hometown Hootenanny for almost a year and a half, and each month we watch our audience members dance in their seats," said Scott Randall, president of the Red Curtain Foundation for the Arts. "Now they'll be able to dance with their feet."

Thanks to the auditorium's sloped configuration, those who want to sit comfortably and listen to the music will still have a clear view of the performers, added Randall.

The March 25 Hootenanny features live dancehall-style music reminiscent of Bob Wills, Hank Williams Sr. and Dwight Yoakam, performed by the Hometown Band along with guest artists the Rachel Mae Band and the Boys of Greenwood Glen. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the Honky-Tonkin' Hootenanny are available online and at the door one hour prior to showtime.

Just don't forget your dance shoes.
