The Arlington Arts Council, continuing a commitment to public art for the city, is seeking the perfect eagle sculpture for Arlington.

"The bald eagle has played an important role in Arlington's history," said Sarah Higgins, spokesperson for the Arlington parks department. "Each year Arlington celebrates the return of eagles to the Stillaguamish River with an Eagle Festival, and our high school's mascot is the eagle."

All Washington State artists who create eagle sculptures for outdoor use are eligible to apply for the commission.

The proposed location is outdoors, on top of the City Hall building on Olympic Avenue, so the sculpture must be fabricated in durable, outdoor materials at life size or larger.

The Arlington Arts Council has budgeted $4000 for the project, which includes design, fabrication, transportation and installation assistance. For more information and instructions for application submission, call Sarah Higgins at (360) 403-3448 or email [email protected].
