Red Curtain's production of "Bedroom Farce," a PG-13 romp by Alan Ayckbourn filled with Brittishisms and '70s pizazz, entertains audiences over three weekends at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave. in downtown Everett. Shows are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m., from April 20 through May 6.

The show features an eight-person cast representing four lively couples across one crazy night, including a challenging role for Marysville's Suzanne Soule-physically and emotionally.

"As far as the physical aspects of the role, my chiropractor loves this show," Soule said with a laugh. "My stage husband climbs up me and then falls on top of me on the bed. And it isn't all acting - he's actually counting on my body to hold up his weight. The scared look on my face isn't all acting, either. There have been more than a few times where I thought we might fall for real. It's been a challenge, that's for sure."

As Jan, Soule also has a kissing scene with another character in the cast, played by Asa Sholdez.

"I confess this fact to my husband (in the show), and to my surprise, he doesn't even get upset about it," said Soule. "I'm almost disappointed that he doesn't get jealous."

The four couples mirror real-life relationships, from the daring and impetuous joy of new lovers Kate and Malcolm, to the unshakable, time-tested ease of the lifelong partnership Ernest and Delia share. Nick and Jan are comfortable with each other, even in a decidedly uncomfortable situation. Trevor and his wife Susannah are somewhere in the middle, fighting hard to rekindle their excitement and ruining a perfectly charming evening in three usually happy London bedrooms while they're at it.

Kimberly Riley directs this comedy for Red Curtain Productions, and the collection of local theater talent includes Suzanne Soule, Jennifer Ropella Saul, Sharon Delong and Jeanine Clarke as the wives. Playing their respective husbands are Charlie Butler, Jonathan Hawks, John Klise and Asa Sholdez.
