The Marysville Arts Coalition hosts a public art event, featuring displays by local artists, live music and opportunities to sample craft beer, wine and spirits on Thursday, April 26, from 2 to 8 p.m. The event takes place in the former Oroweat bakery outlet store, 1347 State Avenue in Marysville.

Art on display and available to purchase will include decorative pieces and jewelry made of fused glass, wood crafts, gourd art, paintings and hanging art, unique fabric pillows and more.

Guests can sample craft beverages from Diamond Knot Brewing, Willis Hall Winery and Dark Moon Distillery, along with hand-pressed cider, and purchase a bottle (or two) of their favorite for at-home consumption.

Complimentary appetizers, live music by local musicians, and an exciting raffle will keep visitors entertained throughout the day. Event participants will also have a chance to offer suggestions for the focus of the coalition by voting on various projects and ideas.

A grassroots volunteer organization working to foster appreciation of the arts in the Marysville community, the Marysville Arts Coalition has organized two city-wide art projects, with the sale of holiday wreaths and springtime umbrellas that have decorated Marysville thoroughfares. "It's Raining Art" on April 26 is the group's first arts-centric event, although it won't be the last.

"We envision hosting this type of event several times each year," said MAC chair Beckye Randall. "The plan is to showcase local artists and musicians, artisans and craftsmen who help make Marysville a vibrant, energetic community."

There is no admission fee for "It's Raining Art." Sample taste tickets for craft beverages are $2 each; appetizers are provided free of charge. Guests can also purchase bottles of wine, beer and vodka from the local vendors for home consumption.
