Marley's Ghost is a multi-talented group of musicians who have been making music together for 22 years. In that time, they have recorded nine albums and performed thousands of shows across the country, entertaining audiences with a program that ranges from traditional country to Celtic folk styles to classic rock 'n roll.
Marley's Ghost will perform Sunday afternoon, May 16, at 2 p.m. at the
Byrnes Performing Arts Center in a benefit concert for the Arlington Arts Council and its mission to promote public art in Arlington.
The band's members are Ed Littlefield Jr., Jerry Fletcher, Mike Phelan, Dan Wheetman and Jon Wilcox.
Since the 1960s, the musicians in Marley's Ghost have refined a sound that features mandolin, fiddle, banjo, guitars and some pipes. Their latest CD, "Ghost Town," is traditional country in flavor.
While the new collection is old country, the Ghosts do a great variety of music. Even the members of the band have trouble classifying their music, but they all know whatever they do, it always comes out sounding uniquely like Marley's Ghost.
The Jazzmine Quartet, made up of talented Arlington High School singers Justin Goheen, Brennan Kmet, Dylan McFadden and Jordan Tanquay, will open the show.
Tickets to the show are $15 and are available at
www.byrnesperformingarts.org and at the door the day of the show. Tickets may also be purchased at Flowers by George, 335 N. Olympic Avenue in downtown Arlington.
The Byrnes Performing Arts Center, part of the Arlington High School Campus, is located at 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd. in Arlington. For information call (360) 403-3448.
