The stories told by Dr. Seuss have enchanted generations of children (and adults) with their fantastical creatures, impossible architecture and clever rhymes. Now many of those cherished characters are set to entertain local families as the Northwest Savoyards present "Seussical The Musical" onstage at the Historic Everett Theatre October 22 through November 7.

"This is the full version of the score and book brought to life complete with full chorus, live orchestra, and a wonderfully talented, experienced cast," said producer Tim Sauke. "The show is a family-friendly musical full of diverse styles of music, fun costumes and dynamic characters."

The Cat in the Hat, played by Asher Jordan, emcees the story of a young "thinker" named Jojo (Raphael Zimmerman) and his ever-faithful friend Horton the Elephant as they connect two worlds through the magic of imagination.

Also featured in the cast are Kevin Douglass as Horton the Elephant, Shoshauna Mohlman as Gertrude McFuzz, Rachel Brinn as Sour Kangaroo, T.J. Burzynski II as the Mayor of Whoville, and Jenny Price as Mrs. Mayor.

Rick May directs the action, with musical director Josh Zimmerman fine-tuning the orchestra and vocal performances. Krista Erickson is the show's choreographer.

"Ever feel alone in the universe? Ever wish your tail feathers were just a bit longer?" asked Sauke. "Come imagine with the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie La Bird, Sour Kangaroo, the Wickersham brothers as we journey together through the Jungle of Nool, float in McElligot's Pool, protect the planet of Who, and search for Solla Sallew."

Performances are planned for Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. There is no show on Saturday, Oct. 30; and on Nov. 6 the Savoyards will present a 2:30 p.m. matinee and an 8 p.m. evening show. Ticket prices are $22 for adults, $19 for seniors, students and military personnel. For reserved seat tickets, call (425) 258-6766 or visit www.EverettTheatre.org.
