A worker replaces a broken window pane at the Marysville Post Office.

The Marysville Post Office, along with several downtown businesses, had numerous windows broken during the morning of Feb. 15 because of a vandal.

“He utilized a wrench to break all of the windows at the Post Office and also caused similar damage to other nearby business,” said Marysville public information officer and patrol officer TJ San Miguel.

Surveillance video caught the suspect breaking many of the windows along State Avenue in the downtown area.

The Marysville Post Office suffered a lot of the damage and the majority of its windows facing State Avenue were damage during the incident.

Numerous windows of businesses and the local post office are now boarded up as locals work to pay for new glass.

For the Marysville Post Office, the repairs will likely come at taxpayer expense.

The Marysville Police have a suspect in custody.

“We arrested a suspect for this incident,” said San Miguel. That individual was still in jail as of Feb. 16.

“He was arrested for Malicious Mischief, which is a felony,” he said.

The individual that is suspected and in custody for the Feb. 15 vandalism has had past incidents with the local police, said San Miguel.

“He is a well-known, frequently arrested, repeat offender,” he said.
